I met Shawndel at the Maryland Pennysaver's Super Yardsale, a semi-anual event held in the spring and fall each year, in the Bowie Baysox Stadium parking lot. Milling about, visiting the many vendors that attended the yardsale, I came upon the booth for Luxury Naturals. As I inquired about her products I also shared with her that a long time ago my grandfather was a soap maker. Shawndel explained to me in detail how bars of soap are commercially manufactured, and that in the process of make soap the manufactures remove a key compontent, glycerine, in order to make the bars hard, thus rendering their cleansing effect to that similar to harsh detergents. No wonder I had itchy skin.
No one ever explained this to me before. I thought to myself, why not give her natural soaps a try! It has been just over a week now and I am very pleased to say that my itchy dry skin has abated almost completely, with out having to use any additional anti-itching creams or lotions.
Handmade soaps are a bit more expensive than commercial, store bought soaps. I paid $8.00 for 2 bars of soap. Also, since handmade soaps retain the glycerine component they tend to be a bit softer than store bought soaps. Shawndel recommends placing the bar of soap in a dry soap dish or container so that it can properly dry off after use.
I estimate that my purchase will last me between 6 to 8 weeks. This may seem a bit expensive, but to be rid of my torturous, itchy dry skin, it is well worth it. Think of the money you'd save not having to buy additional anti-itch creams and lotions.
Let me give another example of what I think of this product. I could not find an affiliate program on the Luxury Naturals website. So, this post is a freebee. I get nothing but the satisfaction of informing you, the reader, of a product that I think is well worth the price.
If you decide to make a purchase, please drop me a comment and let me know what you think! Also, please take a moment and ShareThis post with a friend. Thanks.
